Los Angeles solar power quadruples – rooftop potential is greater than Los Angeles’ utility itself

In some ways, this graph showing the adoption of solar power in Los Angeles is sad, because countries like Germany are already generating half of their energy from solar. But in other ways it’s promising, as rooftop solar adoption is moving at an exponential pace.

Solar in Los Angeles seems to have hits its tipping point, and may be well on its way to providing a large double digit chunk of our energy in LADWP’s electric service territory.

Sure, there are a lot of complexities dealing with that change and its effect on the grid along the way, but it’s a solid start.
