The House needs to SHUT ITS FACE about Solyndra

no more solyndras

Here’s some sources:

And some notes:

  • If you want to get technical about it, the bank bailouts really cost $12.8 Trillion dollars. $700 Billion is just for TARP.
  • China might spend $75B annually on renewables, but their total amount committed (to solar alone) is $1.5 Trillion.
  • Fred Upton is the one championing the “No More Solyndra” act. The bill is ridiculous, and it was proposed knowing that it could not possibly pass. It is purely partisan posturing.  I think that’s the saddest part: that solar is so strong in conservative values, yet, because the Obama administration has solar as part of its plaform, conservatives are sworn to be against it, regardless.

The only problem was, loans to Solydra and other failed “green” companies were nothing more than for political kickbacks to Obama’s campaign. Never was about green energy.

You have done a wonderful job of showing folks how absurd the U.S. government has gotten with corporate bailouts and subsidies. I agree, the government shouldn’t pick and choose corporations that succeed based on political donations and favoritism. Our national debt is about to surpass our GDP. Perhaps the government should stop subsidizing corporations completely and let good products succeed in the market based on supply and demand. Thanks for pointing out how totally inefficient the government is with this fantastic graph. I am all for solar power. We need good engineers that can come up with viable solutions that work, are economical, and can succeed on their own in the capitalist market without a government bailout or subsidy. Let private investors choose the best solar power projects rather than crony capitalism in Washington D.C. Because the government isn’t in the business to choose the best solar power manufacturer these days. They are picking their political friends. You failed to mention the whole issue with Solyndra. They were given Billions of taxpayer dollars and then went belly up. You also didn’t mention the political ties the execs from Solyndra have with the current administration. I totally agree with you. Look at Monsanto. They get such a pass from the gov’t– both Repubs and Dems. Their food is making people sick. Their GMO corn is laced with a deadly bacteria. Government subsidies and laws have made 70% of our processed foods out of the stuff. I wish organic farmers had a level playing field. I wish the government wasn’t so corrupt. We as Americans need to stand behind our inventors and entrepreneurs to make sure that crony capitalism ends and the best man with the best product wins. I wish the government would write a bill that stopped all corporate welfare to any single company over its competitors based on political favoritism. There must never again be another Solyndra. But you are right. It’s not fair that Solar Power gets singled out. Let’s face it, America is broke. China owns the debt. We are printing money to pay the interest on what we owe. Inflation is on the rise. I think this bill should get thrown out and a new one take its place that covers all the corporate cronyism you lay out on your fantastic graph. Thanks for sharing!

T, Boone Pickens – American prophet, spoke of the Saudi Arabia of Wind energy in the Prairie Wind Corridor long ago! He was right of course and as soon as the infantile minds of Americans are taught to accept the realities of energy in this world today, and convert to electric bullet trains and “Short Hop” electric, rechargeable, cars, they will pay to support “Parasite Oil Nations” with a larger and larger percentage of their incomes. Oil is now scarce enough that Tar Sands Oil is profitable and Shale oil which is very expensive, is to come ‘on line” soon. Solar, Wind, Wave, Hydro, Tidal, Geothermal, and Thorium fission for domestic electric energy is the only path America can take to sustain herself. The “Golden Age” of America, supported by the “Cheap Oil Era” is long over. Massive borrowing and astounding devaluation of the U.S. Dollar by the Feds has allowed for the “Oil Illusion” to continue, The system is now breaking down, the end is near, and the breaking point imminent. Time now for Americans to realize this and make the change to all forms of domestic electric power before it is too late, before they go broke.
“Had the $4 Trillions+ spent on Iraq, been spent even only on conventional Solar/Thermal development of South Western U.S.A. – Today, Americans would receive a huge ROI ( “Return On Investment”) in cheap electricity, in place of horrendous tax rates to service unpayable war debt to China. Americans would be gainfully working, using this renewable, perpetual, eternal, clean, radiation free, radioactive waste free, domestic, electricity source – to compete in world markets with well priced products, to irrigate dry lands, to heat and cool homes, and much less foreign oil would have be imported, fewer “Parasite Nations” supported. This is the lost “opportunity cost” for having Saddam’s scrotum on the Bushes mantlepiece? Shiite eh!”
P.S., (Oil, gas, wells do go dry, not really sourced from an eternal pipe up &Allah’s-ass, as some believe – But, the Sun never stops shining, Wind blows forever)
